A member of the firm since 2000, Cindy Sterling brings nearly 20 years of development experience to WASHBURN & McGOLDRICK. Renowned as a superb speaker, teacher, development officer, financial planner and consultant, Cindy's expertise is gift planning and major gifts.
As a planned giving officer and financial planner, Cindy understands the complex financial and philanthropic forces affecting gift arrangements -- and understands how to develop the necessary strategic plans to complete them. She is also a well-known authority on women's philanthropy and frequent speaker at professional conferences around the country.
During her nine years as the director of gift planning at Vassar College, Cindy developed new donor-centered marketing strategies that contributed to a large increase in planned gifts during Vassar's $206 million campaign. Cindy started her development career at the Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science serving as the director of prospect research and later the director of major and planned gifts.
Cindy has written articles and given numerous talks on "Women's Philanthropy: Gender Differences in Planned Giving" to planned giving councils around the country. Awarded the Steuben Apple Award from CASE for speaking excellence, Cindy has presented on major gifts, planned giving, volunteer management and prospect research.
A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania with a bachelor's degree in economics and master's degree in psychological services, Cindy also received her chartered financial consultant (ChFC) certification in 1997. In addition to her work at WASHBURN & McGOLDRICK, LLC, Cindy also serves as the proprietor of Sterling Financial Planning, a financial planning firm that creates personal financial plans for individuals.
