Eileen Bertsch Donahue
Senior Consultant
Eileen Donahue joined Washburn McGoldrick as a Senior Consultant in 2019.
Drawing on her significant experience and expertise in Planned Giving, Eileen provides training and support to Washburn McGoldrick clients in all aspects of gift planning, including the marketing, solicitation, stewardship, and administration of bequests, trusts, charitable gift annuities, as well as contributions of donated securities, real estate, and other non-cash assets. She also advises clients on the drafting and implementation of gift agreements and gift acceptance policies.
Before joining Washburn McGoldrick, Eileen served for sixteen years as University Director of Planned Giving at Yale University where she oversaw all aspects of the university’s planned giving program. While at Yale, Eileen expanded gift planning training opportunities for advancement staff, launched the university’s first recognition society for planned gift donors, created Yale’s donor advised program and established a registered charity in the United Kingdom with dual tax benefits for Yale donors in the U.S. and U.K. Later, in her additional role as Yale’s Senior Philanthropic Advisor, Eileen worked closely with university leaders, donors, and their professional advisors in providing key support for the structuring and closing of Yale’s most generous and transformative gifts.
Prior to her career in educational advancement, Eileen was a practicing attorney and served as a Connecticut probate judge. She received her law degree from Boston College Law School.
