WASHBURN & McGOLDRICK, one of the nation’s leading educational and institutional advancement consulting firms, and Chris Marshall Advancement Consulting CMAC, which provides guidance, planning and strategy for alumni relations, announced today that the two firms will be expanding their ability to work together to serve the advancement, fundraising, and philanthropic communities through a series of new hires and expanded roles for several current team members.
The new appointments and expanded roles announced today include:
Dan Lowman (BIO) — Senior Data Analytics Consultant, WASHBURN & McGOLDRICK, and Senior Data Analytics Consultant, CMAC. An internationally known expert in fundraising analytics and data analysis, Dan spent over two decades in various leadership roles at Grenzebach Glier & Associates (GG+A) including Senior Vice President, Analytics, prior to joining WASHBURN & McGOLDRICK in November of this year.
Dan’s background includes leading the team that developed DonorScape, the first-ever web-based wealth screening service which has become the industry standard. He also co-led the development Major Gift Portfolio Optimization, which prioritizes prospects by capacity and likelihood, as well as analyzes donors and prospects based on their most likely school, unit, or area for support.
In 2015, Dan founded SurveyLab and worked with hundreds of organizations on alumni and donor surveys, as well as specialized surveys and focus groups such as surveys of academic leaders, augmenting feasibility studies, and providing real-time feedback about donor satisfaction.
Nancy Cook (BIO) — Project Manager, WASHBURN & McGOLDRICK. Nancy joins the team after more than three decades in national nonprofit leadership positions, including most recently serving as the Navy SEAL Foundation, Director of Teams, where she directed peer-to-peer fundraising efforts and launched the TEAMWORK Fitness Challenge in Imperial Beach, California. Her previous work includes over twenty-four years of volunteer engagement, corporate philanthropy, and peer-to-peer fundraising with the American Cancer Society, in various director roles across the country. She initiated, directed, and grew the Relay For Life National Corporate Team program from four to more than 60 companies raising more than $20 million each year.
After leaving ACS, she worked as a consultant for several nonprofits including the Arthritis Foundation and the Massachusetts Academy of General Dentistry Foundation. She currently serves on the Western Massachusetts Women in Philanthropy board as program chair.
Ryan Catherwood (BIO) — Vice President, CMAC and Senior Consultant, WASHBURN & McGOLDRICK. Ryan specializes in engagement strategies for volunteer and donor pipeline development that are rooted in a digitally focused, content-based approach to advancement in support of education.
Before joining CMAC, Ryan led the Office of Alumni & Career Services at Longwood University. His early leadership roles in advancement included marketing and digital engagement responsibilities at the University of Virginia and Washington & Lee. He also serves as the host of CMAC’s highly popular Alum-less podcast and web show.
Cynthia Khoo-Robinson (BIO) — Vice President, CMAC and Senior Consultant, WASHBURN & McGOLDRICK. Khoo-Robinson has over three decades of advancement experience. She is highly skilled in developing and cultivating authentic relationships with alumni, volunteer leaders, donors and prospective benefactors that lead to advancing an institution’s goals and overall mission.
Prior to joining CMAC, she served the University at Buffalo as AVP of Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving managing a team of 20+ fundraisers and advancement professionals. During her tenure, she led fundraising strategy for an annual giving program that raised over $6 million annually along with increasing participation from alumni and securing 100% support from the Alumni Association Board.
